When their mother and father are killed as political dissidents in Guatemala, teenagers Rosa (Gutiérrez) and Enrique (Villalpando) must endure the treacherous path to the United States. Restored by the Academy Film Archive and registered by the Library of Congress, El Norte is a Pan-American epic and should be considered essential viewing.
