The exhibition program of Galerie Entrance for 2026 draws from the ecological understanding of the forest as a connected organism. Here, trees, fungi, soil, and microorganisms form a network of sharing, collaboration, and memory.
Inspired by the book Finding the Mother Tree (2021) by forest ecologist Suzanne Simard, the exhibition reveals how forests function as interconnected communities. The concept of mother trees—the ancient individuals that support the growth and survival of other organisms—plays a crucial role. Simard's research fundamentally shifts our view of forests from spaces of competition to realms of cooperation.

This exhibition showcases three artistic personalities for whom nature serves as a lifelong muse:

  • Jan Karpíšek merges painting with conceptual and environmental art, incorporating natural processes and living organisms into his works while questioning anthropocentric views. His artwork Krajinatělo (2014) can be seen as a metaphor for the mother tree and the profound connection between humans and landscape.
  • Petr Gruber considers the landscape as a space of memory, emotion, and inner experience, capturing silent, mysterious nocturnal forest scenes that straddle the boundary between reality and imagination. His works reflect the transformation of Czech forests due to economic exploitation and ecological crises.
  • Lenka Falušiová explores the forest as a space of silence, concentration, and inner experience in her drawings and paintings. Here, trees emerge as distinct beings and symbols of resilience, memory, and care, evoking the majesty of solitary trees viewed as potential mother trees of the forest community.

The exhibition intertwines these three distinct artistic approaches, drawing attention to what transcends the human perspective—what nourishes, supports, and simultaneously demands our care and respect.
