FREE Opera in the Open is an initiative by Dublin City Council, showcasing live operatic performances in the open air of Dublin City Centre. 🌆

This event welcomes everyone, including LGBT+ supporters, family, friends, and anyone who appreciates gay culture. It's a social gathering aimed at fostering community and building friendships based on respect and acceptance. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Featured Performance:
Orphée aux Enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld) by Jacques Offenbach, first performed in 1858. This comic opera offers a satirical twist on the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, presenting a lively and irreverent comedy filled with quarrelling gods and romantic intrigues. The famous Galop Infernal, known today as the can-can, adds to the fun! The opera concludes on a comedic note, with Eurydice escaping her unhappy marriage.

Tips for Attendees:

  • Bring suncream and a bottle of water ☀️💧
  • Consider an umbrella and a cushion for comfort, as the Irish weather can be unpredictable! ☔️🪑
