Jina Park & Kurt Gebauer โ€” AFTER THE ATLAS

๐Ÿ“Location: Karpuchina Gallery, Rybnรก 22, Praha 1
๐Ÿ’Œ We look forward to each of you! โค๏ธ

The exhibition AFTER THE ATLAS showcases two remarkable artists from different generations and cultural backgrounds: Czech sculptor and painter Kurt Gebauer (b. 1941, Hradec nad Moravicรญ) and South Korean painter Jina Park (b. 1980, Seoul), residing in Berlin.

๐ŸŒŒ Despite their varied artistic approaches, both artists engage in a dynamic dialogue that explores themes of figuration, mythology, symbolism, and surrealism. The title signifies a shift from rigid order, where representation transforms and the established structures of perception are set free.

๐ŸŽจ Jina Park's latest works draw inspiration from her series Collector's Room (since 2018), investigating how cultural power distorts individual identity. Her art combines natural elements with motifs from global art history, presenting still lifes and surreal landscapes influenced by scientific representation.

๐Ÿ” Kurt Gebauer continues to explore the human figure in diverse formsโ€”from traditional sculptures to soft installations. His work invites playful engagement with movement, often reflecting observations from everyday life, such as swimming. His figures oscillate between the themes of falling and flying, existence and transience.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ A key motif in this exhibition is the subversion of norms, as figures, birds, and canvases exist in a fluid state, challenging perceptions while maintaining connections to the world around them. Join us for this captivating exploration of art and representation!
