Info sull'evento

Floating Moss Workshop (Kokedama)

Create your own miniature moss world in this hands-on workshop led by artist Maya Li.

In this 60-minute session, you’ll craft a beautiful glass ecological landscape featuring a hanging mini Kokedama (moss ball), a living moss mat, and natural decorative elements including a small sheep figure, stones, and wood pieces. No prior gardening or plant experience is needed — we’ll guide you through every step.

You’ll learn:

The basics of Kokedama (moss ball) culture and traditional making techniques

How to build and design a micro-landscape

Simple moss care and maintenance

At the end of the workshop, you’ll take home your own completed glass terrarium (approx. 5.7" × 5.7" × 7"), a living piece of nature you created yourself.

This workshop is perfect for anyone who enjoys slow, mindful making and wants to bring a little green calm into their space.

What’s included:

All materials needed to complete your glass ecological landscape

Guidance from an experienced artist instructor

Take-home care instructions

Limited to 10 seats.

Maya (Yameng Li) is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and curator based in New York and Shanghai. Working across new media, installation, and participatory practices, her work explores the relationships between nature, technology, memory, and everyday rituals.

Alongside her artistic practice, Maya has developed a deep interest in plant-based making and botanical crafts, incorporating natural materials and living systems into both her creative work and community workshops. Through her kokedama workshops, she invites participants to slow down, engage with plants through touch and care, and experience the meditative process of creating living sculptures by hand.
