Lecture Dance Performance with Anna Pehrsson 🎨💃

Anna Pehrsson presents her exhibition Långtifrån var det en ö in a unique format that combines a lecture and a dance performance. Pehrsson's artistic practice is rooted in the interplay between the movement of the body and the mountain. The materiality and formations of the mountain serve as a foundation for creating a future landscape where the present collaborates with deep time, and the ephemeral is encompassed by the geologically slow.

Långtifrån var det en ö is a spatial installation where matter and body interact in slow shifts. The program intertwines the lecture, presented as a theatrical element, with aspects of a dance performance, guiding the audience through the artistic ideas, theoretical inspirations, and materials of the exhibition. At the same time, it allows for the poetic world of dance to emerge before the audience. Limestone, marble, and copper are manipulated and transformed, broken down, and fall apart, in processes reminiscent of both scientific experiments and older mineral collections.

Through movement and words, connections are established between the fleeting and the ancient, between human scale and geological time. Dance serves as both a means of thought and a sensory tool to approach processes that otherwise lie beyond direct understanding.

Featured Artist

Anna Pehrsson is an artist, choreographer, and dancer with a multidisciplinary practice that moves between installation, movement, text, and spatial situations. Her work explores the intersection of human experience and geological and chemical processes beyond human timescales. She is educated at SKH–Stockholm University of the Arts (MFA in Choreography), Konstfack (MFA), and has a post-master's from the Royal Institute of Art. Pehrsson has also worked as a dancer with Cullbergbaletten and Corpus/Royal Danish Ballet and has received several scholarships, including Uppsala Municipality's studio scholarship for 2025/26.
