Palliyodam - Film Screening and Discussion

Join us for an evening featuring a documentary that explores the Palliyodam of Aranmula and the sacred waters of the Pamba River. This film tells the story of a community's heritage, rooted in devotion rather than competition, and highlights the Palliyodam as a living symbol of faith and continuity in the Aranmula Vallam Kali (boat race).

Through the voices of three individuals closely connected to the river, the film delves into the origins of this tradition and the rituals that sustain it. From the careful restoration of the boat and temple blessings to the Valla Sadhya and the vibrant celebrations on the water, it offers an intimate portrait of belonging.
