Piedmont Ridge Trout Lily & Winter Tree ID Walk w Bob Richie
π³ Join Us for a Nature Walk! π³
Explore the stunning Piedmont Ridge on February 21, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (arrive by 9:45 AM). We will gather at the Scyene and Lacywood Overlook Trailheads located at 2725 N Jim Miller Rd, Dallas, TX 75227.
π₯ Attendance is limited β make sure to sign up here: Volunteer Signup. A $5 donation is appreciated and will contribute to trail signage. Payments can be made in advance via Venmo (@D-Smith-35) or Zelle (2147972475).
Take a leisurely stroll to the Lacywood Overlook and enjoy breathtaking views of downtown Dallas. During the walk, naturalist Bob Richie will teach you to identify trees by their bark and branching structures, transforming your appreciation of the natural world. π²
Accompanying us, Amy Martin, author of Wild DFW, will share insights into the geologic history of Piedmont Ridge and the Native American and pioneer stories connected to the area.
As we traverse through the (somewhat brushy) Renda Meadow and the Comanche Lodgepole Woods, we'll encounter more fascinating trees and winter-active plants. Keep your eyes peeled for the delicate trout lilies along the rocky slopes! πΌ
π Dog Policy: Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be leashed at all times. Unleashed dogs can harm the trout lilies and disrupt the wildlife.
