Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Join us as we honor the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings and commit to nuclear abolition. 81 years ago, the first atomic weapon was unleashed on Hiroshima, followed by another on Nagasaki just three days later, marking a horrifying chapter in wartime history.

Through determined activism and visionary leaders, the risks of nuclear conflict have been mitigated via treaties and reductions in nuclear arsenals. However, recent years have seen many of these treaties lapse, and nations are now rebuilding their nuclear capabilities. It’s time to raise our voices again!

🗣 Speakers:

• Youko Yamamoto: A peace activist and second-generation atomic bomb survivor, she will share insights from her recent conversations with aging survivors in Hiroshima following her spring visit to Japan.
• Joshua Reno: A socio-cultural anthropologist, he will illuminate the connections between military waste and the harrowing legacy of Hiroshima through powerful spoken word.
