Rhythms of the Diaspora — Community Class Series

Join us this June for Rhythms of the Diaspora, a free community drum & dance series exploring the vibrant traditions of West Africa and Cuba! 🎶 Get ready for an engaging experience filled with live drumming, movement, storytelling, and community participation.

Made possible through the support of Albany County and Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.

🗓 Class Schedule:

Thursdays in June

• Senior Rhythm & Movement Class: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
• Community Drum & Dance Class: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

No experience is necessary! Whether you're completely new to drumming and dance or have years of experience, this series is designed to be welcoming, interactive, and accessible to all.

Participants will explore:

• 🎵 Live drumming
• 🥁 Rhythm fundamentals
• 💃 West African dance
• 🌺 Afro-Cuban dance
• 📣 Call-and-response traditions
• 🎉 Community music-making

Free and open to the public. Limited drums available courtesy of Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, on a first-come, first-served basis.
