From Schoolhouse to Service: The History of the Drake School Building in Wappingers Falls

Join us as we explore the fascinating history of the Drake School building, originally erected in 1866 at the intersection of School Street and Roy Avenue in Wappingers Falls.

Originally known as District School No. 1, this significant brick structure has transformed over the years and now hosts the Wappinger VFW Post 5913. In celebration of the Post's 80th anniversary, the Wappinger Historical Society and VFW Post 5913 invite you to an engaging program that delves into the site’s rich legacy—from its days as a schoolhouse to its current role as a vibrant community hub.

• Dani Masterson, VP of WHS and member of VFW Post 5913 Auxiliary
• Joseph Cavaccini, Town Supervisor, Town Historian, and WHS Trustee
