Shut Up & Write!® in Amsterdam / Centre

Join us for an hour of focused writing! ✍️ Writing alongside fellow writers can be incredibly beneficial. Experience this at the 7th floor of the Central Library Amsterdam on Wednesday mornings.

Whether you're working on a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem, or any other writing project, you're welcome to join us. No one will see your work or offer unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and make real progress!

Schedule:

• 10:30 am - Quick introductions
• 10:45 am - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
• 11:45 am - The End: chat, leave, or continue writing

Being late is okay! Just arrive, get settled, and check in with me afterward (look for the Shut Up & Write! sign). If you arrive on time, please make space for latecomers.

After the session, we’ll have time to chat and share our writing experiences. If you can’t stay, that’s perfectly fine!

What Should I Bring?

• Anything you need to write!
• Consider bringing earbuds/earplugs to block out the café’s music or conversations.
• Ensure your devices are charged, as charging options may be limited.

Other Important Details:

• If you’re new to the library, you may need a few minutes to connect to the Wifi via the publicroam app (instructions are available on each table).
• While you’re not required to buy anything, bringing your own food and drinks is not allowed.

Note about the format:
This is not a critique or reading session. It’s a safe space for writers of all levels to work on their craft without the pressure of sharing or critiquing.
