Summer Science Week: Geology, Gems, and Jewelry

Explore the fascinating world of rocks and minerals! From red garnets to purple amethyst and blue turquoise, learn about the geology behind your favorite gems. Participants will also gain hands-on experience in jewelry-making techniques, transforming real rocks, minerals, and semi-precious stones into beautiful earrings, necklaces, pendants, and more — where art meets science!

Each Summer Science Week program is led by a professional educator and accommodates up to 15 students. Located in one of the museum classrooms, students will work independently and collaboratively to examine museum specimens, conduct experiments, create crafts, explore museum galleries, play games, and most importantly, have fun!
