Talk | The Lives of Mughal Painters

Join us for an engaging talk led by Dr. Yael Rice, an esteemed Associate Professor of Art History and Asian Languages and Civilizations at Amherst College! In this session, Dr. Rice will explore the significant roles played by Mughal manuscript paintings, murals, and other artistic designs in expressing the ambitions of both the imperial court and the artists themselves.

🌟 About the Speaker
Dr. Yael Rice, PhD, specializes in the art and architecture of South Asia, Central Asia, and Iran, particularly focusing on the portable arts spanning the 15th to 18th centuries. She is the author of The Brush of Insight: Artists and Agency at the Mughal Court and co-editor of Readings on Painting from 75 Years of Marg. Having previously served as the Assistant Curator of India and Himalayan Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Dr. Rice brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
