trashscapes: a noticing (and photo) walk

LOOK DOWN MORE! 👀

Join us for a casual walk through the East Village, perfect for those looking to slow down, pay closer attention to the surroundings, and capture their finds.

During this walk, we will stroll slowly through the neighborhood, seeking out interesting details to pause and reflect on. Feel free to bring a phone, camera, sketchbook, or any medium you prefer; all levels of art experience are welcome! 😊

This walk is inspired by Trashscapes—an ongoing photography project born from a simple habit: noticing the accidental compositions of debris and found matter on NYC streets. With over a decade of daily walks, this habit has evolved into an archive of what is left behind. I am fascinated by how found matter interacts with the city's infrastructure—using it for framing, achieving balance in color and form, and creating a sense of composition out of the incidental.
