About the Workshop

Important: To fully benefit from the workshop, attendance at the previous day's lecture is essential.

Join us for an insightful one-day hands-on workshop led by the Amsterdam-based digital artist and creative technologist, Geoffrey Lillemon. This workshop invites participants to leverage artificial intelligence in transforming the mood, atmosphere, and emotional narrative of images while creating a short interactive film.

Workshop Overview:
The workshop consists of two distinct parts:

  1. Morning Session: Delve into the fascinating world of Hugging Face, an open repository for experimental AI models. Unlike commercial AI platforms, Hugging Face allows us to explore fragmented and experimental cinematic tools. You'll discover models for relighting, camera transformation, motion induction, and more, encouraging you to find your unique path through this creative ecosystem.
  2. Afternoon Session: Transform your morning experiments into narrative structures. Each participant will create a 9-click film—an interactive work where every click unveils a new scene. All scenes must undergo at least one Hugging Face transformation, whether still or moving, generated or found.

This workshop draws inspiration from the Kuleshov effect, examining how meanings evolve through image juxtaposition. We challenge you to ponder: what happens when cinema comprises images that continually mutate between states?

Who it is for

This workshop is tailored for filmmakers, moving image artists, and creative practitioners eager to explore experimental AI tools. No prior experience with Hugging Face is necessary, though a basic understanding of film language will be beneficial.

What to Bring

Participants should bring their own laptops. We're excited for everyone to join Geoffrey's artist lecture on the evening prior to the workshop, fostering a shared understanding and maximizing our time together.
