Inspired by Art Kane’s iconic photograph “A Great Day in Harlem,” the HERShot Girls Collective has partnered with Snug Harbor and UTA to craft a new portrait series that showcases Staten Island’s jazz musicians.
As part of Jazz Is Staten Island, Snug Harbor, in partnership with Universal Temple of the Arts, presents a new music series celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. From lively concerts to engaging exhibitions, scholarly talks, and film screenings, Jazz Is Staten Island delves into the genre's impactful influence on the community, highlighting local artists and significant cultural movements. 🎶
Earlier this year, the HERShot initiative launched “Inspired By,” led by founder Nataki Alexander-Hewling. Under her mentorship, young women participants hone their skills and explore diverse styles in photography, crafting stories that celebrate local culture through their unique lenses.
This community-driven project beautifully illustrates how art and music intersect to inspire creativity and foster cultural appreciation!
Presented by: HERShot! Productions and Photoville, in partnership with PhotoWings. 📸
