America 250-OH: River Walk to the Giant Sycamore (hike in the river)

Join us for a unique hiking experience as we walk in the Olentangy River to visit the famous Giant Sycamore tree, which is over 400 years old! 🌊

Details:

• Hike Length: 1.5 miles
• Water Depth: Varies, can be up to knee level (higher than rain boots)
• Footwear: Closed-toed shoes required (water sandals, old tennis shoes, etc.). No flip flops! 👟
• Family Friendly: Families are welcome to bring nets or buckets for exploration. 🦋
• Accessibility: Not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
• Expect to Get Wet: Bring towels and a change of shoes for the way home. Consider keeping an extra garbage bag in your car to sit on in case you get wetter than expected. 🧺
• Age Requirement: 6+ due to water levels.

Important Notes:

• Restrooms: The River Bluff area does NOT have restrooms or water fountains. Please bring a water bottle. 💧
• Insect Repellent: Apply before coming to the program.
• Weather Contingency: This program is contingent on Olentangy water levels and may be postponed in the event of high water levels. Updates will be posted by 10 AM on the day of the program.
