Before rising to global fame as a cornerstone of the ‘Midwest Emo’ movement, American Football began their journey as a humble indie rock band at the University of Illinois. Led by the talented Mike Kinsella, alongside Steve Holmes and Steve Lamos, they created music influenced by iconic artists like Steve Reich and Tortoise.

With their self-titled album released in 1999, their sound gained cult status through word of mouth and the burgeoning internet. After a 15-year hiatus, they reunited in 2014, further enriching their discography with new releases in 2016 and 2019 while pushing their sound into new realms of post-rock and experimental influences.

American Football has collaborated with renowned artists such as Hayley Williams and Rachel Goswell, earning acclaim from major publications like Pitchfork and Rolling Stone. 🎶
