Eat Bitter (2023)Feature Documentary, 52-min broadcast cut
An intimate look into the lives of a Chinese construction manager and a Central African sand digger striving for independence and happiness in Bangui. This remarkable film premiered at CPH:DOX 2023 and has been featured at prestigious festivals such as DOC NYC and the Shanghai International Film Festival. Supported by esteemed institutions like the Sundance Documentary Institute and the Ford Foundation.

The Life (2026, 15 min)Narrative Short
Explore the struggles of Chinese immigrant sex workers on the 40th Road in Flushing, Queens. After three years of profound research, this narrative short sets the stage for Ningyi's upcoming feature film, currently in development. The feature script is recognized as a quarter-finalist in the 2024 Academy Nicholl Fellowships!

A collection of poignant recorded discussions with sex workers and clients from the Flushing community, forming a part of the developing AMP project.
