Today, we are thrilled to announce the kickoff of preparations for Islands 2026 — Soil & Terra! 🌍

Since 2015, Islands by Art Center Caravel has delved into contemporary artistic practices connecting island territories, memory, ecology, and landscape. The upcoming 2026 edition will focus on the ground itself, exploring soil as memory, pigment, archive, and living ecosystem.

Expect installations, natural pigments, recycled materials, sound, and participatory artistic practices created in collaboration with artists, local communities, seniors, children, and international partners.

We are excited to introduce one of our exhibiting curators, Joze Zyberchema, an artist, photographer, and cultural practitioner deeply rooted in Madeira’s public art and ecological landscape.
