Beseda Nicka Wintona, Jr. a Angely Pick Greenway u příležitosti vydání Pamětí Emila Picka

Om arrangementet

Sir Nicholas “Nicky” Winton was a young London stockbroker who visited Prague in December 1938, where he discovered large numbers of refugees fleeing the Nazis—and knew he had to do something, at least for the children. After returning to London, Nick spent months securing foster families, passports, and documentation to help hundreds of children reach safety. In total, he helped 669 children.

Emil Pick, founder of the Kosmos chemical plant in Čáslav, was one of the leading figures of pre-war Czechoslovak industry who embodied industry, responsibility, and service to the community. During his imprisonment in Terezín, he wrote his memoirs. As a message to his grandchildren, whom the legendary Sir Nicholas Winton had saved from the Holocaust. They were among the 669 children he saved.

Now, on the occasion of the publication of these memoirs, Nick Winton Jr., Sir Winton’s son, and Angela Pick Greenway, the daughter of one of the rescued children and the great-granddaughter of Emil Pick, will meet at the synagogue in Čáslav. The discussion with them will be moderated by legendary American journalist Jolyon Naegele.

The discussion will be held in English. Interpretation into Czech will be provided.
