BIMF 2026: Kit Sebastian (Storbritannia/Tyrkia/Frankrike)

🎤 Kit Sebastian is the psychedelic pop duo consisting of K Martin and Merve Erdem. Based in London, their music reflects lives lived across languages, cultures, and borders, bringing together inspiration from Turkey, France, Italy, and beyond into a sound that feels both familiar and uniquely their own.

Merve moved from Turkey to Italy to study film before settling in London, while K grew up between England and France, developing a deep fascination with French culture and music. They met in London in 2018 and soon discovered a shared curiosity that led to the formation of Kit Sebastian.

Through albums like Mantra Moderne (2019) and Melodi (2021), the duo has drawn inspiration from French pop, Anatolian psychedelic rock, Tropicália, early rock ’n’ roll, jazz, and progressive music. Over years of touring across Europe, they have gathered sounds, instruments, and atmospheres that have gradually become part of their distinctive musical language.

In 2024, they released their third album, New Internationale, under Flying Lotus's label, Brainfeeder. Their reputation as an outstanding live band has continued to grow through acclaimed performances at festivals across Europe, while their work beyond the stage, including a recent soundtrack contribution to Pluribus, showcases their expanding artistic journey.

The duo also explores music through their London club night, Club L'Internationale, a quarterly event held in a vintage shop where they share DJ duties with guest selectors. Featuring music from the 1960s to the 1980s and records from around the world, these nights not only celebrate music discovery but also serve as a space for the sounds and rhythms that feed back into their own creations. They've taken Club L'Internationale to cities such as Berlin, Paris, and Istanbul.

Kit Sebastian’s music is shaped by movement across countries, eras, and traditions. Through their curiosity and mutual trust, they have crafted a sound reflecting belief in connection, exploration, and the creative possibilities that arise when different worlds converge.
