Books in Other Forms #3: Bookbinding Techniques
Want to learn different ways to bind a book? And how to choose which method works best for your publication? We’ll introduce a range of binding techniques: from staple and spiral binding to hand sewing, pamphlet and concertina folds, as well as more makeshift approaches using paper clips, elastic bands, and found materials. You’ll experiment with different methods and learn which kinds of binding best complements the content of your publication.

Em—Dash is a South East London based studio + press, experimenting with the book-form, and playfully publishing work that spans across art-practice, design, research, and visual culture. Beyond books, they have worked across mediums of curation, film and radio. Workshops encourage the sharing of ideas, skills and facilitating collective making. Em—Dash is operated by artists and designers Aarushi Matiyani + Saundra Liemantoro.
