Carnation Lunch & Learn: Microscopy Image Analysis for Early Discovery
Join the founders of Carnation, MBC's newest partner, for lunch and an insightful look at Carnation’s cloud-based microscopy image analysis platform.
Carnation moves plate image analysis off the workstation next to the microscope and into the browser. You can open a plate from anywhere, build a segmentation and measurement pipeline interactively on a single field of view, then run it across a whole plate on cloud GPUs, returning an analysis result 20x faster than existing tools with no need for custom scripts.
We'll cover:
- Why imaging has become one of the most valuable readouts available to small teams
- What foundation models changed about analysis and what problems still exist
- A live walkthrough: build a pipeline on one image, fan it out across a full plate, and pull per-cell measurements into a notebook
- Open Q&A on your own assays
Who should come:
Anyone at an MBC company doing plate-based imaging, whether that's fluorescence, brightfield, phase, or anything else your scope produces. Especially useful if your analysis currently lives in CellProfiler, ImageJ macros, or a Python script that one person maintains.
As an MBC partner, Carnation is available to resident companies at no cost.
Speakers:
- John Bisognano: Spent five years at insitro, where he led the imaging software team building internal tooling for phenotypic screening.
- Owen Auch: Was a tech lead at Orb, the usage-based billing infrastructure behind many AI companies, and led an engineering team at Asana before that.
