We are defined by our plasticity and constant need to modify our bodies, minds, and surroundings. Humans have systematically been covering the Earth in layers of design, leading to our own extinction. The authors argue that design must be redefined as a tool for asking critical questions about our existence, rather than merely solving superficial problems.
