Figma Field Days: NYC Maker Night

Join us for an evening of hands-on making at Index Space in NYC Chinatown.
We invite you to step away from the screen and make something with clay, paper, drawing tools, and more. You'll leave with a creation that carries the energy you want to bring into the summer and a few new faces to bring it in with.
At Figma, we believe in making for the joy of it. This evening is built on that same spirit: a chance to slow down, follow your intuition, and create something that's entirely your own. No artistic experience or expertise needed.

Featured Artist

Ayaka Takao (she/they) is a New York based teaching artist and facilitator, born in Japan and raised in Honolulu, HI. With a primary interest in humanity, harmony, and love, Takao works across a diversity of mediums, employing of ceramics, painting, written word, and the World Wide Web.
Recently, she has been focused on an ongoing maintenance of a living, breathing website. Through her teaching practice, she tends to the human need of connection and self-actualization through haptic activity, leading with curiosity and sincerity. Takao tends to a polygonal, multi-disciplinary practice, mentoring others through education and embodiment, teaching collaboratively and rhizomatically.
Takao has taught ceramics and creative methodology in Honolulu, New York, Baltimore, and online, contributing as a guest critic and facilitator across the US. When not tending to Index Space and their personal admin, she enjoys slowing down in a grassy patch by a babbling brook.

What is Figma for Edu?
Figma for Education is the team at Figma that empowers educators and students to make the most out of Figma’s tools. Through the Figma for Education program, qualifying educators and students can access Figma’s professional tools for free. The Edu team also ensures that our education audience has the skills, inspiration, and community they need to create at their best.

Design Meetup is a place for designers who want to continuously upskill while making meaningful friendships, bringing together the world’s most ambitious designers. Through in-person events, virtual workshops, and an active slack community, we are your space to learn and define where design is heading.
