Fischer-Z is set to embark on their first-ever Australian tour in November and December 2026, celebrating their 50th anniversary! 🎶

Despite never touring Australia before, Fischer-Z has enjoyed significant chart success here, with their global hit “So Long” (1980) peaking at #15 on the Kent Music Report and earning substantial airplay. Their later single “The Perfect Day” (1987) also charted at #12 on the ARIA Charts, solidifying their fan base in Australia, which ranks as their fourth biggest market for Spotify streaming.

Founded in 1976 by John Watts and synth player Steve Skolnik, Fischer-Z is known for their political songwriting and energetic performances. Their debut album Word Salad (1979) made waves in the post-punk scene, and their hit “So Long” became one of the first music videos aired on MTV. Over their five-decade career, they have released more than 23 albums and played over 3,000 concerts worldwide.

To commemorate this milestone, Fischer-Z will release a celebratory album titled 50/50, featuring 5 new songs and 5 re-imagined classics. 🎤✨
