Organizer's text:

Sunflowers - impressions - yellow - ear! - vision - rampage - madness - genius! - art - suffering - suffering - ooooh - poor, good-natured painter in a straw hat, suffering and creating under the blazing sun, and similar pseudo-poetic nonsense. Van Gogh would be pissed off if he found out that we’ve turned him into the patron of one of the greatest myths in Western art. Luckily, he managed to shoot himself (pardon the expression) before that happened.

The Gogh Forbid project (The Myth of the Suffering Artist) is based on the correspondence between Vincent van Gogh and his brother Theo and seeks to demystify the life and work of one of the greatest figures in the art world. It explores the relationship between art and suffering and their natural or imposed causality, and, together with the accompanying exhibition, aims to draw parallels between van Gogh’s artistic and personal struggles and those of contemporary young artists. Through this approach, the production seeks to draw attention to the artist’s mental health and the modern manifestations of the aforementioned myth.
