Originating from Memphis and educated in Arkansas, he made his way to New York City in 1969, quickly becoming part of the vibrant avant-garde and creative music scene. Throughout his career, he has had the honor of performing alongside legends such as Charles Mingus, Lionel Hampton, and Stanley Cowell. His profound impact on jazz includes recordings with the esteemed Strata-East label and contributing to the iconic Piano Choir project.
