Join a short guided introduction to one of the most remarkable exhibitions exploring 18th-century Swedish history — Badin: Beyond Surface and Mask. This brief talk is the perfect starting point before you explore the full exhibition independently.
This powerful exhibition tells the extraordinary story of Adolf Ludvig Couschi Badin — a man who journeyed from enslaved boy to court servant, actor, and independent thinker in 18th-century Sweden. His life serves as a lens through which themes of slavery and colonialism are examined with depth and honesty.
Discover Badin through his own personal letters and writings, and experience a newly created film work by Salad Hilowle, in which Badin has been imaginatively brought back to life to reflect on his journey and on how the world perceived him.
🇸🇪 Swedish introductions are held on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 13:00–13:20, 21 February – 8 August.
