🌊 Free Kayaking on the Hudson River — Inwood Canoe Club Open House 2025

Northern Manhattan's only walk-up kayaking program is back! Join the Inwood Canoe Club for complimentary, guided 20-minute kayak excursions on the Hudson River, just north of the iconic George Washington Bridge. Since launching in 2002, this beloved program has welcomed over 1,000 guests every summer — and you could be next!

⚠️ Special Exception: Open House will not be held on Sunday, July 13. Instead, it will take place on Saturday, July 12 in celebration of City of Water Day.

🚣 How It Works

Sign-up is in-person only, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on a first come, first served basis. Spots are organized into three guided "waves" — once you've claimed your spot, make sure to return to the boathouse on time or risk losing your place!

🛶 What's Available

• 12 SOTs (sit-on-top kayaks) for solo paddling
• Tandem kayaks (built for two, availability may vary)
• The "canoemaran" — a multi-person vessel that fits up to 6 guests + 2 ICC members (affectionately called "Turtles")

No paddling experience? No problem — all skill levels are welcome!

📋 Important Details & Requirements

• ✅ All participants must be able to swim
• ✅ Minimum age is 8 years old
• ✅ Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (participation subject to conditions and club member discretion)
• ✅ All equipment provided: boat, paddle, and PFD (life vest)
• 👟 Wear shoes and clothes that can get wet
• 💧 Limit valuables — items left at the boathouse or on surrounding property are not ICC's responsibility
• 🐾 No pets permitted at Open House
