Join ZRS for Fossil Collecting in Montana this summer!

🌟 Ammonites, Dinosaurs, and Agate — Oh, my! 🌟 Join ZRS for an exciting hands-on, paleontologist-guided fossil collecting adventure in Montana this summer! Beautiful landscapes, incredible finds, and fun await you on July 25th & 26th near Glendive.

🚗 This intriguing location is about a nine-hour drive from the Twin Cities. If possible, extend your adventure with an extra travel day on each end of your trip.

On Saturday, you'll collect beautiful ammonites and other marine invertebrate fossils from the Pierre Shale formation, dating back about 80 million years to when this part of Montana was a shallow inland sea. You can expect to find a wide variety of exceptional fossils, including ammonites, nautiloids, snails, and clams, showcasing stunning original mother-of-pearl shells. ZRS will provide identification manuals, geological insights, and expert guidance for your collections.

On Sunday, we will head to a private ranch deep within the rolling badlands to collect dinosaur bones, teeth, and beautifully agatized petrified wood. This site, rich in history from the 70 million-year-old Hell Creek Formation, produces many dinosaur fossils, including skeletons of various species. The ranch owner will guide us to a designated area for an incredible day of fossil collecting, with ZRS staff available for assistance.
