Ladies Foodies Club Dinner-Is This the Future We're Creating? Facing the Climate Challenge Together
The Ladies Foodies Club is hosting our July Edition on July 30 at Konjiki Ramen ( Downtown).
This summer has brought the realities of climate change closer to home than ever before. Across Northern Ontario, devastating wildfires have forced people to evacuate, displacing families and disrupting lives among which the most vulnerable : Indigenous communities. The smoke travelled hundreds of kilometres, turning Toronto's skies orange and, for a time, giving the city some of the worst air quality in the world.
At the same time, conversations about climate policy have become increasingly complex. Governments, businesses, communities, and individuals continue to debate how best to balance economic growth, energy security, and environmental responsibility. While opinions may differ on the path forward, the urgency of building a more resilient and sustainable future remains.
Join us and our guest speaker Gaëlle Guillaume, Sustainability Consultant for an evening of meaningful conversation and connection as we explore one important question: What kind of future are we creating? Together, we'll discuss how our choices, as consumers, professionals, leaders, and community members can contribute to climate action. From everyday decisions to collective advocacy and innovation, we'll examine how working together can help protect our communities and leave a healthier planet for future generations.
Because climate change isn't someone else's challenge: it's ours! And the future we're creating depends on what we choose to do today.

ABOUT OUR JULY THEME : IS THIS THE FUTURE WE 'RE CREATING? FACING THE CLIMATE CHALLENGE TOGETHER
The recent climate conditions have made us rethink of how climate change impacts our daily lives. Furthermore, the federal Government's rollback on climate policies and Ontario's Government stance on environmental issues have left many of us wondering if climate change and the environment is considered important on the agenda of those in power.
Canada’s carbon tax has been scrapped. Then it was the turn of the oil and gas emissions cap in Alberta province to be scrapped, which resulted in the environment minister resigning. And the federal Government still hasn't submitted a plan to reduce emissions under Canada’s net-zero accountability act.
Canada has fallen short on international climate standards. A research report from Julie Segal, a London School of Economics visiting fellow and senior manager at Environmental Defence, finds that Canada lags behind its peers on climate finance policies.
Canada faces increased fires and coastal degradation from climate change, which is likely to cost insurers.
This session will be a platform to discuss the recent climate challenges impacting us and what we can do to face them better as well as raise awareness around us.
