Last of the Summer Wine - Island Hike 22km

Join us for a scenic 22km hike inspired by the UK TV series Last of the Summer Wine!

Important Notes:

• This hike may be shortened in excessively hot weather.

Registration Instructions:

• If you're on the waitlist, please message me using 'Contact the Host' to confirm your commitment.
• Being on the waitlist does not guarantee a spot; slots will be allocated based on the order of messages received.

Travel:

• Participants will receive details about departure and return times via email/SMS and on the event page.
• Use a Deutschland Ticket or arrange your own rail fare.
• Meeting point is on the platform by the first carriage; look for the viszla dog! 🐶

Coordination:

• All coordination will be done via the Telegram group: t.me/hikeberlin

Tour Details:

• We start at Golm Bahnhof in the west of Berlin, heading north to cross the bridge onto the island.
• The hike will take us along the north of the island, following the canal and coastline to a winery.
• Enjoy the 'Last of the Summer Wine' theme with local wine and flammkuchen at the winery before returning to Golm train station.
• If you prefer, you can skip the winery and head straight back; directions will be provided.

Food & Drink:

• Bring your own lunch, snacks, and plenty of water for the hike. 💧

Return:

• Trains run regularly towards Potsdam or directly to Charlottenburg.

Additional Information:

• You are responsible for your own safety.
• Smaller groups are preferred to reduce stress on nature.
• Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes.
• Bug spray is essential; bear spray is not needed! 🐻
• Dogs are allowed but please do not feed them!
• The hike will be at a standard pace of about 4km per hour.
• All costs are your responsibility.
• Only thunderstorms and torrential rain will halt this hike!

Rules:

• Attendance Policy: If you are marked as “going” and do not show up or update your RSVP at least 72 hours before the hike, you will receive a 3-month ban from future hikes.
• Late RSVPs and no-shows are disruptive, so this two-tier signup process prioritizes committed individuals for a better group experience.
