Lost Wax Casting: Ring Design Workshop

Join us for a workshop where you carve your very own custom rings using the lost wax casting method, with a take home you will cherish forever!!
During this 5 hour workshop, Katherine Wu will review the basic principles of creating a ring using the lost wax casting method. Guests will learn how to carve their own designs into jewelers wax using a variety of tools and make a wax carving of their unique ring design!
At the end of our time together, you can choose whether to get your ring cast in sterling silver. Your ring will be professionally cast and polished, and you will receive the final silver version of the ring you carved in 3-4 weeks by mail.
This ticket covers the cost of the workshop including 5 hours of instruction, access to tools, and your wax model. Due to the unique size of each ring and the daily changing cost of silver all guests will receive an estimated final cost (within a calculated range), and be invoiced separately for the silver cost of the final product if choosing to cast.

About the Artist
Katherine Wu is a Philadelphia-based artist and silversmith. She is a graduate of New York's jewelry trade school Studio Jewelers and specializes in the art of lost wax casting. Her designs draw inspiration from the everyday beauty around us - whether that's the slow path of a raindrop down a window or the intricate cross-section of a lotus root slice. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted to celebrate simplicity, the charm of imperfection, and the stories that shape us. She has a long list of hobbies, including but not limited to: knitting, hiking, and foraging for morels.

Safety Disclaimer
Just want to note that use of sharp tools is central to this technique. Please make sure to arrive well-rested as lack of sleep may impair motor skills and reaction times. That being said, this workshop is beginner friendly, fun, and no prior experience is necessary! We will require a signed waiver to participate.
Getting Here
The venue is a hidden art studio located at 20 Grand ave in brooklyn on the 6th floor of a commercial building! When you arrive, buzz #604, push to open and take the elevator up to 6 (push the elevator button until it turns red.!!) Take a right out of the elevator, and a left at the end of the hallway. The door will be the first one on your right.

Tickets are non-refundable/exchange-able! Please double check your calendar. In the event you are no longer able to make it, you are welcome to give your ticket to a friend or use our ticket swap sheet. Just send us an email!

All guests must be 18+ to attend and though we love your pups, unfortunately cannot have them in the studio!
