Mezipatra: Shorts by Young Talents from CE Europe

Join us for a selection of short contemporary films from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine that explore LGBTQ+ themes through unique cinematic storytelling.

These films present personal reflections, delve into queer history, and share everyday stories. Together, they highlight the rich tapestry of queer experiences in the region, addressing topics like identity, closeness, freedom, acceptance, and the notion of home. This collection showcases a new wave of filmmakers who sensitively and courageously portray the lives of queer individuals.

Look out for the Ukrainian film Tell Me a Fairytale, the winner of the inaugural Outpitch platform, which nurtures young talents from the V4 countries and Ukraine. Good Boy from Slovakia features painter Andrej Dúbravský, who uses his art as a protest against censorship and hate speech in Slovak culture. Additionally, I Bring You Tidings humorously explores the challenges of coming out at Christmas Eve dinner.

All films will be screened in their original language with English (and Czech) subtitles.
