📖 About the Play

Spanning the years 1965 to 1989, this beloved American classic traces Heidi's remarkable journey — from a spirited teenager, through a period of disillusionment in young adulthood, to her emergence as a self-assured professor. Along the way, she navigates the search for feminist community, meaningful friendships, and self-respect, all while trying to reconcile her deepest romantic hopes with her unwavering values.

More than three decades after its premiere, Heidi's story resonates just as powerfully today. Audiences of all ages will find themselves reflected in her — and in her circle's — joys, heartbreaks, and struggles against a patriarchal and homophobic society. 🌈✊
