Off the Beaten Path: A JET’s Eye View of Japan
🌏 In-person Program
Note: Due to building security, walk-ins are not permitted. All participants must be registered in advance.
Beyond Tokyo's neon streets and Kyoto's ancient temples lies a hidden Japan, filled with remote islands, secret hot springs, quirky festivals, and trails known only to locals. Discover these lesser-known corners through the experiences of JET alumni who lived in Japan's smaller cities and towns for one to five years.
Join us for an evening of inspiring short talks from seven speakers, sharing their stories, landscapes, and local traditions that shaped their time abroad. Each presentation lasts five minutes, covering topics from island getaways to festival traditions and outdoor adventures, followed by a Q&A session to explore your interests further.
The night concludes with a networking reception featuring delicious onigiri, wine, and refreshments, offering attendees a chance to mingle with speakers and fellow Japan enthusiasts.
This event is presented by the Japan Society of Northern California in collaboration with the JET Alumni Association of Northern California.
