Paper Clay on Terra Cotta Pots (2 days)

Explore the geometry of the human form by sculpting abstract, Cubist-inspired faces onto terra cotta. In this workshop, you will move away from traditional realism to experiment with fragmented planes, multiple viewpoints, and bold, interlocking shapes using paper clay. We will guide you through the process of deconstructing facial features into striking 3D geometric reliefs that wrap around your planter. You will learn to layer and carve clay to create sharp edges and dramatic shadows, finishing your piece with stains or paints that emphasize its architectural depth. No prior experience is required—just a curiosity for looking at the world from a new angle.Note: This class takes place over two sessions to allow for drying and finishing.
