The quantum revolution of 1925–26 marked a transformative era in physics, often seen as the quintessential paradigm shift. In this enlightening talk, Michel Janssen, a renowned professor in the history of science at the School of Physics and Astronomy, reveals the intricate story of quantum mechanics — from Planck, Einstein, and Bohr to Heisenberg, Schrödinger, and Dirac.

Through engaging metaphors such as scaffolding to build an arch and merging architectural styles to create a cathedral, Janssen illustrates the continuity and evolution of quantum mechanics. This lecture will be beautifully complemented by drawings from professional illustrator Laurent Taudin, showcasing the gradual construction of this remarkable and complex field.

All lectures will take place in the former Bell Museum at the University of Minnesota's East Bank campus on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. from June 23 through July 28, 2026. 🚀
