ROOTS & RETURNS
Carbon has become the unit of measure for a problem that resists measurement. We track tonnes, credits, and targets. But what doesn’t reduce to a number is often left out—ecological knowledge, invisible labour, and the systems that sustain entire landscapes.
Roots & Returns begins where that accounting stops.
Roots & Returns is a multisensory exhibition that brings climate finance out of abstraction and into lived reality.
At a time when billions are being mobilised in the name of climate action, the exhibition asks a simple but urgent question: Who does this capital actually reach and what does it change on the ground?
Through immersive storytelling, the exhibition traces the journey of climate finance from global capital markets to frontline communities across the Global South. It moves beyond carbon as a metric and into the lived realities of climate action across the Himalayas, Sundarbans, Indonesia, and Kutch.
Featuring:
Documentary photography of people behind climate work
Handcrafted materials and ecological artefacts
Traceable products from frontline communities
Stories of labour, knowledge, and value often left out of climate finance
This is not an exhibition of answers, but of evidence.
For those who’ve been adjacent to this sector for years and want, for once, to be in a room with the physical evidence.
Free to attend. Open to registered London Climate Week participants. Register above.
Doors open from 5:00 pm for guests who would like to meet the team, explore the curated exhibition, and spend more time with the installations.
The evening will feature a conversation between Sandeep Roy Choudhury, Co-Founder & CEO of VNV, Ifeoluwa Olatayo, Founder of Farmslate Technologies & Ban Ki-moon Foundation Delegate, and Callum Heckstall-Smith, COO & Co-Founder of Sotora Global, moderated by Sean Earp, Senior Manager, Carbon Markets at VNV.
