SAIS: ARCHAEOLOGY OF A LOST — BUT FAMOUS — ROYAL CITY

Join us for an intriguing 5-day course focused on the ancient city of Sais! 🏛️ This event will be held both in person and online, with options to livestream or watch recorded sessions.

Led by Prof. Penny Wilson from Durham University, this course will explore Sais, the capital city of Egypt during the Late Period (664 – 525 BCE). Delve into its rich history, from its legendary temple dedicated to the goddess Neith to its reputation as a center of ancient knowledge. 📚✨

Participants will analyze data from various sources, including:

• Regional surveys and geological studies 🌍
• Archaeological research 🔍
• Archival documentation 📜
• Museum collections 🏺

The aim is to reconstruct the history and layout of Sais, offering insight into the lives of its inhabitants from 4000 BCE to the present. This course will also provide a framework for comparing Sais with other ancient Egyptian cities, allowing for their rediscovery as well! 🏺
