Social Film Club – 33rd Edition

Om arrangementet

Join us for the 33rd Edition of the Social Film Club, a vibrant branch of the Social Book Club dedicated to exploring international cinema! This Saturday, we gather at 19:00 hrs to dive into thought-provoking films tailored to your cinematic tastes.

We'll be choosing from these three heartfelt films about childhood — the choice is yours!

  1. Children of Heaven (1997)
Directed by Majid Majidi, this Iranian gem tells the emotional tale of a brother and sister who share a single pair of shoes. Experience poverty, love, and resilience through the eyes of children.
    ⭐ IMDb: 8.2/10 – Runtime: 1h 29m

  2. Good Morning (1959)
A delightful comedy by Ozu featuring two boys in a Tokyo suburb who initiate a silence strike until their parents buy a TV. A humorous yet poignant commentary on childhood, conformity, and rebellion.
    ⭐ IMDb: 7.7/10 – Runtime: 1h 34m

  3. Where Is the Friend's House? (1987)
A beautiful tale by Kiarostami about a boy searching for his classmate in a hillside village to return a notebook. This film captures the kindness and inner worlds of children through a lens of patient realism.
    ⭐ IMDb: 8.0/10 – Runtime: 1h 23m

🍽️ After the meetup, join us for food at China Zentrum Stiegengasse, if it's still open by the time the film wraps up — otherwise, we will improvise! 😁😁

If you're new to the club, please help us improve by filling out this survey: Take the Survey

Note: We can comfortably seat up to 10 people. Feel free to come even if you're on the waitlist; often, many sign up but don't show up.

The venue for our gathering is the MUT, a nonprofit organization focused on social issues like Emergency Assistance, Food Rescue, and Environmental Protection. Let's make cinema a community experience!

See you there! 🎉
