Sonic Masala presents an enchanting lineup featuring the French-American indie noise-pop duo Special Friend, currently working on their third full-length album. Hailing from Paris, their sound is a captivating blend of lo-fi textures, soft vocal harmonies, and intricate interplay between voice, guitar, and drums.

Formed in 2018, Special Friend consists of Erica Ashleson (drums, vocals) and Guillaume Siracusa (guitar, vocals). The duo's journey began at a concert where they connected over their passion for music, leading them to create powerful songs in just a short period. Their debut EP in 2019 showcased a minimalist yet impactful style, reminiscent of influences such as Yo La Tengo and Electrelane.

Their second album, Wait Until the Flames Come Rushing In, released in 2023, features a remarkable sonic evolution, including violin and keyboard, while keeping their authentic charm intact. 🎤Support acts include:-Friday Chores, a fresh project from Laura Dickinson of Lace Thief and Mitch Proctor, bringing a delightful guitar-and-bass jangle pop sensation.
