The Body Electric Poetry Workshop

Join us for The Body Electric, a transformative poetry workshop led by Poetry for the Masses in partnership with non-alcoholic bottle shop Burden of Proof. 🌟

This workshop invites participants to explore the body as an archive, landscape, companion, and home. Through engaging prompts and creative exercises, we will delve into how our bodies influence our movements through the world, and how the environment leaves its imprint on us.

Together, we will write about the stories etched below our skin, highlighting moments of transformation, survival, pleasure, grief, growth, and joy. We will embrace the body’s contradictions—its fragility and strength, its limitations and possibilities, and its remarkable ability to remember what the mind may forget.

Whether you're here to celebrate, question, or reclaim your body, we encourage all attendees to approach writing with curiosity rather than judgment. This workshop is inclusive, welcoming writers of all backgrounds and experience levels in a supportive environment to explore the deeply personal and the universal. Come prepared to write boldly, reflect deeply, and honor the extraordinary body that carries your story!

Meet the Facilitator:
Alejandra Roggero is a proud Whittier College graduate and the author of four collections of prose and poetry, including The Town and La Matriarca. She co-founded Poetry for the Masses, a monthly workshop and collective that welcomes writers of all levels. Her writing aims to soften readers—to the point of dissolution. Look out for her forthcoming book, soft serve, scheduled for 2027, as well as her appointment as the inaugural Poet Laureate for Whittier in April 2026!
