Formed in 1980, The Effigies forged a legacy with their captivating lyrics and aggressive sound, shaping the Midwest punk scene. Their DIY ethos resonates with themes of corruption and urban alienation, making them a significant influence in punk history.
Their early work, like the 1981 Haunted Town EP and the 1983 Were Da Machine, showcased their raw energy and connection to the working-class roots of the Midwest punk scene. Sharing stages with iconic acts like Naked Raygun, Big Black, Black Flag, and The Cramps, their legendary live performances often threatened the local rock status quo, dominated by cover bands.
After a period of inactivity, The Effigies are back with fresh energy and a new album in honor of their late founding member John Kezdy. His legacy lives on as they unveil their latest work, Burned, and prepare for an exciting future with new frontman Geoff Sabin.
