VCN #43: Cattle, Not Pets

VCN #43: Cattle, Not Pets

Om arrangementet

Join us for VCN #43: Cattle, Not Pets, a hands-on build night where you can explore the world of ephemeral VMs!

What’s Happening?

Stop treating your development box like a pet! Instead, it's time to manage your agent tasks like cattle — disposable and efficient. Here's what we'll cover:

🔧 The Walkthrough

Learn about Firecracker microVMs, Lima, and Multipass. Understand when to choose a full VM over a container sandbox, and how to use cloud-init for bootstrapping your box.

💡 The Pattern

Discover the lifecycle of spinning up an ephemeral VM per agent task. We’ll walk through each phase: spin fresh, run your agent, and tear down.

🛠️ Build Your Own

In a hands-on hour, write a script that creates a fresh throwaway VM, executes your agent task inside it (on Nebius Token Factory credits), and destroys it once done. Watch as Claude Code on z.ai drives the agent in the box!

🎉 Demos + Social

Show off your spin-and-destroy script and compare snapshots, boot times, and teardown times with your peers.
