Join Randall’s Island Park Alliance for a unique opportunity to explore the Harlem River as we celebrate World Fish Migration Day! This event is part of the Columbia Climate School Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory’s Lower Hudson & Harbor Fish Count.
🔍 What to Expect:
Gear up in a pair of provided waders and assist our team in dragging a 30-foot-long seining net along the riverbank to uncover the fascinating biodiversity present in our waterways.
🐠 Hands-On Learning:
Discover the various fish species inhabiting the river and assist in the fish monitoring process by counting and measuring the fish captured in the net. Every fish will be safely released back into the river after measurement!
👕 Dress Code:
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet — all equipment is provided! Participants must be 12 years or older to seining, but everyone is welcome to come and observe the fun!
📍 Location: Rock Dock along Water’s Edge Garden
