Join us in honoring National Indigenous History Month! 🎉
On June 1st, come together with the Indigenous community at George Brown for a day of celebration filled with honour, remembrance, education, and action. This day is a heartfelt acknowledgment of the strength, resilience, and cultural vibrancy of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, contrasting with the solemn moments that often remind us of losses and injustices.
👐 Everyone—from students and faculty to senior management and community members—is invited to participate in fostering awareness and supporting Indigenous youth. The festivities will include:
- 🎤 Local drummers, dancers, and singers 🥁
- 🌮 A delicious set menu featuring DIY tacos (meat, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options!)
- 🌟 An Indigenous vendors’ market
- 🤝 Community greetings in a warm, welcoming space devoid of formal speeches.
🔍 The event culminates with a visit to a newly painted mural in the Indigenous Initiatives Student Space, created by renowned local artist Joseph Sagaj, celebrating our collective journey towards embracing Indigenous histories and futures.
📍 Location: 51 Dockside Drive, Toronto, ON M5A 1B6
